“Most children won’t be thinking about their teeth while they’re tucking into their Easter egg – but perhaps they should be,” said

Rob Morgan, a director of Space Healthcare in Leamington Spa, who also lectures in clinical dentistry at Birmingham University.

This time of year everyone indulges in the occasional treat but Rob is keen to make sure your teeth don’t pay for your cravings.

Tooth decay is caused by sugar-containing foods such as chocolate, but it would be a shame not to enjoy chocolate eggs at this special time of year.

Here are his key tips to maintaining healthy teeth this holiday:

  • Enjoy your treats at the holiday and try not to keep snacking on them over several days
  • Eat them around mealtimes to avoid the sugar lingering all day between brushing
  • And, it’s especially important to brush your teeth twice a day – morning and night – using a fluoride toothpaste

After all you only get one set of teeth so it’s important to look after them.

Space Healthcare, which has invested more than £1 million in state-of-the-art equipment for its modern, purpose-built centre in Leamington’s Clarendon Avenue, also comprises laser eye unit which specialises in laser eye surgery and reading vision correction.
